EDGEWOOD, Texas — The Redwater Dragons took care of business Friday night on the road against the Edgewood Bulldogs.

The Dragons notched a 36-14 victory to improve to 3-0 on the young season.

Korben Hoffmeister led the Dragons with 139 yards rushing and connected on 7-of-13 passes for 259 yards. Malcolm Brown topped the team with 50 yards receiving.

For Edgewood (2-1), Hayden Wilcoxson went 22-of-38 with an interception to end the night with 259 passing yards. Kirk Dillard and Brady Bannister teamed up for the Bulldogs and had a combined 259 receiving yards, while Bannister added 104 rushing yards.

Both teams struggled for most of the first quarter, but with a 28-yard run by Hoffmeister the Dragons were able to get points on the board with just 31 seconds left in the quarter.

Hoffmeister’s run seemed to be just what the Dragons needed to start their momentum. The Dragons quickly went to work in the second quarter to advance their lead to 22-0 to end the first half.

Coming into the third quarter, defense seemed to be the name of the game. The Dragon defense went to work with a sack from Cooper Thompson that caused a fumble, and was quickly followed by an interception by David McKeever with a gain of about 15 yards.

After a scoreless third quarter, Hoffmeister went to work with a 27-yard TD run to give the Dragons a 29-0 lead. The Bulldogs finally started showing some life after a fumble recovery by Connor Seay. The hosts capitalized on the opportunity and finally put 6 points on the board. The Bulldogs were able to score once more to shorten the Dragon lead, making it a two-possession game. To seal the win, McKeever had a 1-yard run for a touchdown with 2:24 left to play.

Redwater will host New Boston (2-1) on Friday at Dragon Stadium.
