County Commissioners approve sale of tax delinquent property

NEW BOSTON, Texas — Sixteen pieces of tax delinquent property are now up for sale in Bowie County.

County Commissioners agreed during their Monday meeting to have the Sheriff’s Office put the properties, which are currently being held by the Bowie Central Appraisal District, up for resale.

The 16 properties, of which nine are in Texarkana, Texas, three in Hooks, one in Nash, one in Wake Village and two out in the county, are collectively valued at $22,000.

This unsold property is being placed back on the public market on behalf of the appraisal district, which serves as the properties’ trustee.

Besides putting the land back up for resale, Court members also re-appointed county residents Ardis Richardson and Dwight Wilborn to each serve another two-year term on the Bowie County Housing Authority Board of Directors. The new terms, for both directors, will start Nov. 1. The Court also re-appointed George Huggins and Cassie Raulston to the Bowie County Child Welfare Board.

In other business, court members appointed Andrea Williams McCoy and Cory J. Floyd to serve on the NorthEast Texas Regional Mobility Authority Board of Directors.

Also in other business, it was announced that Carol Dalby, with the Bowie County District Attorney’s Office, will retiring later this month after serving as the Commissioners Court legal advisor for 27 years.

Dalby said the DA’s office first appointed her to be the court’s legal advisor in 1995.
