Lady Leopards crush Chapel Hill, 76-41

PITTSBURG, Texas — LibertyEyl­au had a big final quarter to seal a 76-41 victory over Tyler Chapel Hill in a Class 4A bi-district varsity girls playoff basketball game on Tuesday at Jack Arnwine Gym.

The Lady Leopards (20-10) outscored the Lady Bulldogs (15-15), 24-6, in the fourth quarter. Bryana Block had a game-high 29 points for Liberty-Eylau, who will face Brownsboro in an area playoff game later this week.

Ja’Kai Ray had a double-double for the Leopards with 12 points and 15 rebounds, which was a game-high. Myah Hurd pulled down 9 boards and scored 16 points for LibertyEyl­au and teammate Kayla Crabtree had 13 points.

The Leopards shot 46 percent from the field (26 of 57), turned the ball over 12 times and totaled 39 rebounds. Chapel Hill shot 33 percent (13 of 40), had 24 rebounds and 24 turnovers.

Block scored 9 of her 29 points in the third quarter as Liberty-Eylau outscored the Bulldogs, 22-18. The Leopards outscored Chapel Hill in every quarter and took a 52-35 advantage going into the fourth quarter.

Liberty-Eylau went into halftime with a 30-17 lead.

Hurd led the Leopards with 4 points in the second quarter, which was a low-scoring affair for both teams. L-E outscored the Bulldogs, 10-7, in the second and shot 13 total charity shots.

Block put up 11 points in the first quarter to give the Leopards an early 20-10 edge after the first quarter. Block’s shot from downtown started a 10-0 run for Liberty-Eylau. Crabtree drove in for a layup, Hurd hit a layup and Block hit another triple as the Leopards grabbed the momentum and a 13-2 advantage.
