Hope PD makes arrest in connection with shooting

HOPE, Ark. — An arrest has been made by the Hope Police Department in connection with Tuesday’s shooting of a Hope High School student.

On Thursday, May 5, at approximat­ely 11:30 a.m., officers of the Hope Police Department arrested Bryceston J. Marks, 18, of Bryant, Arkansas for one count of Murder 1st Degree, one count of Terroristi­c Act and four counts of Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm from a Vehicle.

The arrest occurred at the Hope Police Department, and is in connection with the homicide that occurred in the 600 block of South Walnut Street in Hope on May 3, 2022. The victim of this shooting was identified by Hope PD as Tykendrick

Bradford, 16, of Hope.

Bradford was a student at Hope High School.

Marks is awaiting his first court appearance at the Hempstead County Detention Facility in Hope.

On Tuesday, Hope officers arrived and found one male victim lying on the ground in front of a residence with an apparent gunshot wound.

EMS arrived on scene and transporte­d the victim to Wadley Hospital in Hope where he was later pronounced deceased. According to witnesses at the scene, the victim was struck by gunfire that came from a vehicle passing in front of the residence.

The Hope Public School District released the following statement on Tuesday morning:

“Earlier this morning, Hope Public School officials were notified by the Hope Police Department of an off-campus incident involving a Hope High School student. Tragically, the student passed away this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family, friends, and school community. Beginning this morning, extra counselors and social workers will be available for HHS students and staff. The entire Bobcat Family expresses deep sadness and shock at the passing of this student. It is times like this that we come together not only to offer our sympathies but also to demonstrat­e our resolve as the Bobcat Family.”

This investigat­ion is still ongoing.
