TEXARKANA, Ark. — Arkansas High ended its baseball season with a sweep of visiting Pine Bluff Friday.

In Game 2 of their doubleheader, the Razorbacks were able to sweep Pine Bluff in 5 innings, despite already being eliminated from the playoffs.

After being up 4-2 through three innings, AHS exploded for a 6-run fouth inning to beat Pine Bluff 10-3. The Hogs won the opener, 9-3.

Senior left-hander Shane Sutton picked up the second win, going 2 2-3 innings, giving up two runs on just one hit, and striking out four. Trey White came on in relief for the final 2 1-3 innings, giving up one run on three hits and striking out six.

The Razorbacks were led at the plate by Sutton, Ryan Wardlaw and Cash Brooks. Wardlaw doubled and picked up an RBI, while Brooks and Sutton both had a pair of singles and an RBI each. Jackson Shipp, Ty Waid, and White all contributed singles on the night.

The opener’s final score was no indication of just how in control the Razorbacks were all evening against the visiting Zebras.

Appropriately, on senior night, senior Jalen Betts had his way on the mound for Arkansas High, lasting 6 1-3 innings, striking out nine batters while surrendering only three runs on five hits.

Arkansas High’s offense got started early with a leadoff double by Betts, who then rounded the bases to score on a throwing error by the right fielder after the initial hit.

The Razorbacks would go on to score in all of the first four innings to get out to a 7-0 lead, capped off by Ty Waid’s 2-run home run. Fellow senior Shane Sutton had two hits with a single and triple, Trey White added 2 singles, along with Jackson Shipp and Ethan Walker each contributing a single.

Pine Bluff posed their only threat of the game in the late innings, but Betts squeezed out of a bases load jam in the sixth, only to give up the three runs in the seventh inning.
