NEW BOSTON, Texas — Approving Levee Board re-appointments and the reselling of tax delinquent property topped the agenda at Monday’s Bowie County Commissioners Court meeting.

The Levee Board works on flood protection and stormwater management throughout the county.

Commissioners also approved the resale of four pieces of tax-delinquent property being held by the Bowie Central Appraisal District. Three of the properties are in Texarkana, and the other is in New Boston. The four properties have a total value of $1,250, according to county records.

Commissioners also approved allowing County Judge Bobby Howell to sign a $6,888 service agreement with the Garratt-Callahan Co. to provide a water treatment for the county. Howell said the company will be responsible for maintaining the courthouse’s air conditioning chiller system.

In other business, commissioners:

• approved advertising for bids for road maintenance materials in all four county road precincts.

• approved granting the County Clerk’s Office permission to hire the Dallas-based Kofile indexing company to assess and conduct daily county records software indexing in order to improve document retrieval.

Precinct 4 Commissioner Mike Carter initially asked the court for an additional $100,00o for road maintenance material. However, later in the meeting, he said he had enough funds to care for his precinct’s needs.
