Stanley Effinger Showers, age 83, of Texarkana, Texas passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Stanley was born August 12, 1938 in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born as Charles Stanley Hillhouse to his parents Charles and Louise Effinger Hillhouse. Later Louise remarried Francis Showers and at that time Stanley was adopted and renamed Stanley Effinger Showers. Stan was originally married to Helen Showers and they had two daughters Stephanie and Kristen. Following their marriage, Stan met and married Jane Prince Bass. He was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist church for 34 years in Longview, TX. and then they moved to Saratoga, AR. where they joined Millwood Baptist Church. Stan was very active in children and youth ministries. Stan was involved in Habitat for humanities, Meals on wheels, Haverty’s Angel Tree and nursing home ministries. He was an avid fisherman and loved to play the game of golf and attended many many garage sales!! He graduated from Saugatuck High School in Saugatuck, MI., also attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO majoring in geology. First job out of college Stan worked at a Volkswagen dealership in parts, service and sales. Following this he was employed with Sears Roebuck and Company in 1963 and served as credit and operations manager at several different locations for 22 years. After Sears he opened Longview Door and Window Company as well as The Swimming Pool Store.

Preceded in death by his parents Charles Hillhouse and Louise and Francis Showers; brother Kendal Showers; grandparen­ts Bernard and Lucy Vessey.

He is survived by his wife Jane; two daughters Kristen Showers, Stephanie Kline and two daughters by marriage Cynthia Spinks and Sherri Hudson; two brothers and spouses Dave Showers (Cheryl) and Jim Hillhouse (Gini); sister Sue Bjornsrud (Gary). Six grandchild­ren and spouses Hashim Allozi, Clint Spinks, Zech Allozi (Katie), Melissa Rose (Phillip), Jacob Kline and Ashley Hudson. Eight great grandchild­ren Mark Compton III, Zayleigh and Kaylee Rose, Zeke, Isaac, Aurora, Nova Allozi and Kyro Pendergras­s.

Memorial service will be 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at East Funeral HomeMoores Lane, Texarkana, TX.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Millwood Baptist Church Children’s Youth Camp Fund, 800-AR 32, Ashdown, AR. 71822.
