Students receive certification for workplace skills
Twenty-seven area high school graduates have obtained the ACT Workkeys National Career Readiness Certification.
The NCRC measures and certifies foundational work skills and is recognized and recommended by thousands of employers, as well as the American Council on Education, which recommends the certification for college credit.
“The Texarkana USA Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to support this initiative throughout our local high schools in Arkansas and Texas,” said Robbin Bass, director of Business Retention and
Expansion at the Chamber, which recently presented the certifications. “We’re excited to celebrate the success of the students and see where they go in their future endeavors.”
Students from Arkansas High School and Genoa Central High School received the certifications, which are awarded on four levels — platinum, gold, silver and bronze.
The platinum awardees are from Genoa. They are Ryan Braden, Mallory Cheatham, Braden Crabtree, Savannah Duff, Alexander Ellis, Cole Gies and Zoe Patterson.
Gold honorees came from both high schools. From Genoa, they are Adison Ashmore, Laken Bunn, Carrigan Duncan, Warren Ellis, Savannah Freeman, Emily Fuller, Tyler Helms, Richard Jameson, Lea Kelly, Lani Lanier, Holly Pioterek, Kaitlyn Russell, Michael Shetzer, Aubree Thornton and Caleb Whitehead. Arkansas High had three gold awardees — Aiden Sims, Benjamin “Tripp” Wilson and Kloe Whitt.
Arkansas High’s Kate Bunda and Keeyonece Butler received the silver certification.
The ACT NCRC is an evidence-based credential that certifies the essential skills for workplace success. Employers look for it from job candidates, because it is a valid predictor of job performance, the Chamber said in a news release.
