- By Leo Pusztai

Summer buzz: America’s hottest summer competition returns for Season 17 when “America’s Got Talent” premieres Tuesday, May 31, on NBC.

“America’s Got Talent” has captivated audiences across the United States for years with its unrestrictive talent show setup that allows some of the most unique stage acts to step into the spotlight. Contestants grace the stage with song and dance or perform death-defying stunts and mysterious illusions, as solo performers or in groups.

Should they make it past the first few rounds of elimination, the selected take their finest acts to compete for the grand prize of $1 million and the opportunity to headline “AGT’S” Las Vegas show. Season 16 crowned magician Dustin Tavella as its winner.

Terry Crews (“Brooklyn Nine-nine”) renews his infectious enthusiasm as the show’s host this season, as Simon Cowell (“American Idol”), Sofia Vergara (“Modern Family”), Howie Mandel (“Deal or No Deal”) and Heidi Klum (“Project Runway”) return to the judges panel.

Crews and each of the judges will once again have access to the Golden Buzzer once throughout the audition period.when they view a particularly striking audition, they may reward the act with the Golden Buzzer, which allows them to move directly from their audition to the live portion of the show.this lets them skip the initial elimination rounds, which serve to reduce the number of finalists from hundreds of hopefuls to fewer than 50 acts.

Audience voting will begin after the audition rounds when the live shows begin, either through Nbc.com or using the “America’s Got Talent” app.

Don’t miss the two-hour premiere of “America’s Got Talent” when it airs Tuesday, May 31, on NBC, followed by the series premiere of “Dancing With Myself,” a new competition series inspired by Tiktok dance routines and starring Shakira (“Zootopia,” 2016), Nick Jonas (“Jumanji:welcome to the Jungle,” 2017) and Liza Koshy (“Liza on Demand”) as judges.

Mass Appeal Records co-owner and legendary rapper Nas narrates the biographical stories of the artists, delving into how they were shaped by the world and how hip-hop influenced their path in life. Rare archival footage supplements the interviews to highlight some of the most influential points in each subject’s career.

The project hopes to shine a brighter light on the massive impact these artists had on the genre and on the world stage at large.
