Lady Tigers stun Tyler in OT

TEXARKANA, Texas — Texas High’s girls upset second-seeded Tyler, 75-73, in overtime Tuesday night in the Tiger Center.

The Tigers finished at 6-8 in district, but Marshall (7-7 district) took fourth place by beating Pine Tree, 42-24, Tuesday.

Tyler falls to 25-6 overall and 11-3 in district behind champion Mount Pleasant (14-0).

Texas High had four double-digit scorers, led by Ke’aria Antwine with 22, Serenti Collins with 19, Delana Augustus with 12 and Anasia Wilcox with 10.

“We played a much better game against Tyler in the second half,” said Tiger coach Shalonda Wilson. “We shot the ball pretty well.”

Texas High finishes in fifth place, just missing the state playoffs by one game.

FOUKE GIRLS CLINCH CONFERENCE CROWN

JESSIEVILL­E, Ark. — Jessievill­e took Fouke into overtime, but the Lady Panthers pulled out a 63-61 victory, clinching the Conference 7-3A basketball championsh­ip Tuesday night.

Fouke improves to 25-3 overall and 13-0 in conference with one game left at Prescott.

The Panthers leading scorers were Kendall Haworth with 14 points and Nailah Zetrenne with 11. Payton Futch scored a game-high 27 points for the Lady Lions.

The two teams battled to a 57-57 tie at the end of regulation.

The Panthers then outscored Jessievill­e 6-4 in the extra overtime period to escape with the win.

“That game is exactly what a No. 1 seed and No. 2 seed game should look like,” said Fouke coach Mo Williams. “Two great teams playing each other tough. As a fan that’s all you can ask for and as a coach I am just glad to be coaching tough kids that make no excuses and just play hard.”
