TROY BOBO

Troy Eugene Bobo, age 56, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born May 22, 1966, in Texarkana, Texas, to Preston “Buddy” and Bonnie “Maxine” Bobo.

Troy was the ultimate cowboy. He loved his children, horses, dogs and especially working on the ranch. Troy absolutely treasured talking cows with his granddaugh­ter. One of the things he loved the most was teaching his son how to drive a standard in an old Ford Ranger as well as how to operate heavy equipment. Troy cherished the time he spent hunting and frog-gigging with his daughter.

Troy is survived by his children, Brandon and Roxanne Bobo, Brandy Upchurch, Whitney Bobo and Zachary Bobo; his grandchild­ren, Eliza Upchurch, Hadlee Upchurch, Dawson Ward and Carson Ward; his brothers, Stuart Bobo and Karl Bobo; as well as many other family members and friends. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Boomer.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Maxine; and cherished dog, Betty.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Texarkana Funeral Home on Texas Blvd. A visitation will be at 1:00 PM one hour prior to the service.

Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.

Ronnie Burleson passed away February 20, 2023. Services will be 2:00 P.M. February 24, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb. Visitation will be held the hour before.

Sam Dean passed away February 16, 2023. Services will be 10:00 A.M. February 25, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb.

Robbin Burns died Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Services will be 3:00 P.M. February 25, 2023 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in New Boston under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home.

JOE NORWOOD JR.

Joe A. Norwood, Jr., age 97, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at his home in Hooks, Texas.

Joe was born on March 9, 1925 in Allene, Arkansas. He served our country proudly in the United States Navy during WWII. He retired with the USPS as a postal carrier. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf and fishing. His passion was building bird houses and giving them away to anyone and everyone who wanted one.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Rehkopf Norwood; one son, Joe D. Norwood; grandchild­ren, Jared Smith (Lauren), Gena Barreto; great-grandchild­ren, Harrison Smith, Finn Smith, Alexa Barreto; nieces, Jan Briggs, Ann Marie Hasson; nephew, Leon Norwood, Jr.; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 23, 2023.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Trinity Evangelica­l Presbyteri­an Church at 2623 N Robison Rd Texarkana TX 75501.

Mr. Norwood will lie in state at Texarkana Funeral Home, 3515 Texas Blvd from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Carmella Franklin-Hall, 40, of Texarkana died Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in Baylor-Scott White Hospital, Dallas, TX. Arrangemen­ts are pending with Haynes Mortuary, Inc.

HASKELL RAY HILL

Haskell Ray Hill, 94 years old of Queen City, Texas went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 20, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife Joy Hill, son Alvin Leslie (Bubba) Hill, sister Raba, and his parents.

He is survived by one son: Haskell Leon Hill and wife Jo Ann, daughters: Mary White and husband Bryan, Martha Godwin and husband Dale, and Margaret Watson and husband Don all of Queen City. He leaves nine grandchild­ren: Charles Byrum and wife Julie of Queen City, Catherine Plyler and husband Daniel of Arkadelphi­a, Arkansas, Jennifer White of Queen City, Christophe­r White and wife Kimberly of Texarkana, Texas, Joseph Hill and wife Ashley of College Station, Texas, Emily Freeman and husband Chad of Texarkana, Texas, Amanda Wise and husband Cullen of Queen City, Stephen Watson and wife Heather of Harleton, Texas, and Sarah Mott and husband Joseph of Yuma, Arizona; a sister, Sara Crosby of San Antonio, Texas; 16 great-grandchild­ren, a host of nieces and nephews, and a lifetime of friends.

Haskell was born in Queen City on August 6, 1928. He served in the army during the Korean War. Upon returning to Queen City to make a home with his new wife, he went to work and retired from Red River Army Depot. He served his community as a band booster, member of the Masonic lodge and served as the scout leader of Troop 44 for over 40 years. He was a member of Queen City Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26th at Queen City Methodist Church with visitation one hour before services at the church, with Charles Lawrence and Jeff Dotson officiatin­g the service.
