Annie Bell Chatman was born June 28, 1944, in Texarkana, Texas to the late Robert Bell Houff and Clote Bradley Houff. She quietly entered eternal life on February 19, 2023 with her family and loved ones by her side.

Annie accepted Christ at an early age at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas and was a graduate of Macedonia High School. Annie was an avid sports fan and loved the games of football and basketball. A true Dallas Cowboys fan she was. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, aunt, and friend who truly loved spending time with her family and friends. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, son, Thurman “Buck” Chatman, sisters, Willie Hawkins and Sallie Chatman, brother, Phillip Houff, and grandson, Reginald Ware Jr.

Those left to cherish her memories are: husband of 59 years, James “Red” Chatman of Texarkana, TX; daughters, Sharon (Reginald) Ware of Wake Village, TX and Beatrice Chatman of Oakland, CA; sister, Jirlean Houff of Texarkana, AR; brothers, Earnest Houff and Rodney Houff of Texarkana, TX; granddaugh­ters, Shameka Chatman of Texarkana, TX and Lakendra Washington of Prosper, TX; grandson, Emmett Chatman of Texarkana, TX; great-granddaugh­ters, Kendall and Keely Washington of Prosper, TX; great-grandsons, Rayden and Rylan Ware of Texarkana, AR and Reginald Ware III of Texarkana, TX; aunt, Ruby Banks of Texarkana, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Mrs. Chatman will be 2:30 to 4:30 PM Friday, February 23 at Haynes Mortuary. Funeral service will be 12 Noon Saturday, February 24 at House of Refuge Church. Online registrati­on is available at www. haynesmort­uary.com.
