WILLIE LUCKEY

Willie Lee Luckey, also known as “Dude” or as his mother affectiona­tely called him, “Doolum”, was born September 11, 1934 to the parentage of the late Oscar Arthur Luckey, Sr. and Maxine Jones Luckey. He attended Floyd Valley School and Panhandle School where he earned his diploma. He joined the Floyd Valley Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. Willie became a deacon and he remained an avid and active member until his health began to fail. He was also a mason with Sunset Grand Lodge A. F. & A. M.

In 1956, Willie married the love of his life, Velva Lee Collins (Sattiewhit­e), and to this union 3 children were born. During the early years of marriage, he worked for U-Valley Constructi­on until he was injured. In 1958, he began driving the school bus for Panhandle, then Douglas High. Willie became an Atlanta ISD bus driver during the 1965-66 school year and also worked as one of the mechanics. He first retired in 1989. He came out of retirement to go back and help AISD for several more years before retiring again in 1999.

Willie was the firstborn of nine siblings of whom all are deceased: Vernita Luckey Steger, Theotis Luckey, O.A. Luckey, Jr., Marvin Luckey, Callie Luckey Washington, Gladysdene Luckey, Whalen Luckey, Sr. & Clara Luckey Oliver.

Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Floyd Valley Baptist Church, Marietta, TX. with Pastor Reginald Bowser, Officiatin­g. A walk-through viewing will be held March 3, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at ColemanAtl­anta Funeral Home. Burial will be in Floyd Valley Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.

He leaves to cherish his memories: 2 daughters: Velma Jean (Crawford) King and Ivory Pearl (Rod) Birmingham, 1 son who stood by his side through thick and thin: Willie Odell. The Apples of his eyes: The Grands - YoShandra Russell, Christy King, Keres Garrett, Sharedan Birmingham, DeCori Birmingham, and Demecia (Trey) Nickleberr­y. VANESSA BUCHANAN

Mrs. Vanessa Lynn Fort Buchanan was born September 16, 1958 in Texarkana, Texas to Wiley Fort Jr. and Ardeen Johnson Fort. She was the seventh of eleven children born to this union. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Mount Orange Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas.

Vanessa was a graduate of Liberty-Eylau High School and went on to achieve a Bachelor of Business Administra­tion from Texas A&M-Commerce and later a Master of Education from Texas A&M-Texarkana. She was an employee of Texarkana Independen­t School District where she taught fifth grade and served as an Administra­tor for a period of thirty-two years.

On June 4, 1983, she was united in holy matrimony to Kenneth Buchanan and remained married nearly forty years. To this union three daughters were born.

Vanessa is preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Wanda Mathis, and Brenda Williams.

She leaves in the loving hands of God: Husband: Kenneth Buchanan (Texarkana, TX; Daughters: Kimberly Buchanan (Ft. Worth, TX), Erin Buchanan (Euless, TX), and Charlaina Buchanan (Texarkana, TX); Sisters: Shirley James, Texarkana, TX; Alice (Lee) Johnson, Taylorsvil­le, MS; Verna Cellers , Texarkana, TX; Kurrey Allen, Texarkana, TX; Rosalynn (Howard Daniel) Feagins, Aurora, CO; Brothers: Herman Fort, Baltimore, MD; Keith (LaToya) Fort, Texarkana, TX; Shaun (Jessica) Fort, Midlothian, TX; In-Laws: Joyce Thurman, Terry (Benita) Monk, Walter Buchanan, Gerry (Wanda) Buchanan; A host of nieces, nephews, friends, special daughters and sons, and other relatives.

GLENMARKUS WALKER

Mr. Glenmarkus Denzel Walker left us on February 22, 2023 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Glenmarkus was a beautiful soul. This, in brief, is his story. Glenmarkus was born on August 2, 1990, in Texarkana, Texas. He attended school in the Texarkana, Arkansas school district and graduated from Arkansas High in 2008. Glenmarkus attended college at Grambling State University and majored in Mathematic­s.

Glenmarkus married Kia Bursey on July 14, 2018. Glenmarkus went on to be employed at CTEH as an Environmen­tal Specialist for six years.

Glenmarkus was preceded in death by his grandparen­ts, Jerry E. Walker, Monroe and Bettie Walton and his aunt, Rhonda Walker.

Glenmarkus is survived and will be missed by his: wife, Kia Bursey-Walker, Little Rock, Arkansas; children, Jerrion Rashad Walker, Texarkana, AR, Axel Glen Walker, Kade Jerry Walker and Aria Bursey, all of Little Rock, Arkansas; parents, Michelle and Tracy Walton, Texarkana, Arkansas and Rory and Patreece Rhodriquez, Miami, Florida; grandparen­ts, Thelma Walker, Texarkana, Arkansas and Reginald and Fredricka Rhodriquez, Miami, Florida; siblings, Courtney (Sha’Candra) Walton, Atlanta, Georgia, Ja’Lynn (Clifford) Gray, Little Rock, Arkansas, Neshia (Justin) HarrisFric­ks, Texarkana, Arkansas, Christophe­r (Shaniece) Bell, Houston, Texas and a special cousin, Brandon Walker of Texarkana, Texas . A celebratio­n of Glenmarkus’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Lonoke Baptist Church, 1841 Lonoke Avenue, Texarkana, Arkansas with Pastor Arthur Hill, Sr. as the eulogist.

Interment to follow afterwards in Chapelwood Memorial Garden under direction of Lyles Funeral Home, Inc.

CAROLINE TRAWICK

Caroline Ophelia Trawick, age 79, of Texarkana, Arkansas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 2, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Trawick was born January 5, 1944, in Fouke, Arkansas, and was a lifetime resident of the area. She was previously employed with the Salvation Army. She had a servant’s heart and enjoyed being able to take care of others. She was one of the friendlies­t, happiest, and most caring people you would have the pleasure of calling a friend. Mrs. Trawick had the biggest heart for people. She loved people, but most importantl­y, she loved her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Trawick; her parents, Hulet and Pearl Gregory and one brother, T.J. Adams.

She is survived by her children, William Oswald and his wife, Gail, Annette Cook and her husband, Joey, Robin Oswald and his wife, Jan, Miranda Chandler and husband, Clay; one brother, Eddie Gregory; nine grandchild­ren, three great-grandchild­ren and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebratio­n of Mrs. Trawick’s life will be held at a later date.
