ALEXANDRA GOODE

-

Alexandra Goode, age 93, of Texarkana, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 6, 2023. “Babu” (short for Babushka) as she was affectionately known, was born September 13, 1929 in a Russian community located in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. She was a Holocaust survivor who spent four months at Dachau and nine months in the labor camp at Rugen. Shortly before the war’s end, she escaped the labor camp only to spend another three years in a displaced person’s camp near Lubeck, Germany. Finally, having lost her entire family in the war, at the age of 18 she immigrated to the United States via Elis Island.

After raising her three children, Alexandra opened her own travel agency, but her most fulfilling work began when she was 70. Along with her husband George, she founded International Guardian Angels Adoption Agency which placed over 250 children (mostly from Russia) into loving homes here in the U.S. That work continued into Alexandra’s 80’s only stopping when the Russian government suspended foreign adoptions. She encouraged people with her story by speaking to thousands over the years about the Lord’s faithfulness.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, George Goode; her parents, Gen. Georg and Elena Maderash; her twin brother, Valoydsa, her brother, Egor and one grandson, Buddy Goode.

Left to celebrate her well-lived life is one daughter and sonin-law, Vicki and Dr. Richard Hornok of Texarkana, Texas, two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Steve and Joan Goode of Keller, Texas, Mark and Pam Goode of Cleveland, Ohio, nineteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, a number of other cherished relatives, and hundreds of others to whom she was Babu!

The family will receive friends in Texarkana Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Fellowship Bible Church.

On Saturday, March 18, 2023 visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas.

A graveside service will be 10:30 A. M. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas, with Dr. Richard Hornok officiating. A Memorial Celebration Service will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday at Lake Pointe Church, Firewheel Campus in Garland, Texas.
