NASH, Texas — Four people are dead and a teenager is in police custody following reports Tuesday of a person barricaded in a house.

Cesar Olalde, 18, of Nash, has been charged with capital murder of multiple persons. He remains in the Bi-state Detention Center.

The names and ages of the victims have not been released. Officials also have not said whether the victims and Olalde are related.

The manner of death has not been disclosed.

Nash Police Department was dispatched to 563 Lemon Acres about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday on an unknown issue.

“Witnesses on the scene made officers aware of an individual armed and barricaded inside the residence,” the police department said in a news release.

Officers also were told that several people were dead in the house.

Along with Nash, Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Rangers, the Department of Public Safety and several area police departments mobilized at the scene.

A sheriff’s office negotiator made contact with the barricaded man and arranged his surrender.

The man was identified as Olalde, who was arrested at the scene.

Neighbor Kenny Chelf described the residents at 563 Lemon Acres as hard workers. “They’re all nice people,” he said to the Gazette. Chelf was away from his house when the area was cordoned off and was not allowed to go home during the police operation.

A woman who lived at the house was often outside working in her flower bed, he said.

A man at the house usually worked late. Chelf said when the man got home, he sometimes would sit outside, drink a cold beverage and wave.

“No problems, a quiet neighborhood,” Chelf said about the cul-de-sac.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Nash Police Department at 903-838-0822.
