- BRANDON WELLS TEXARKANA GAZETTE

TEXARKANA, Ark. — In doubleheader varsity basketball action Friday night at Razorback Gym, both the Wolves and Lady Wolves of Lake Hamilton, each ranked second in the conference 5A-south standings, added to their season win totals against the Razorbacks and Lady Backs.

The Lady Wolves (15-7, 7-1), who currently sit behind Benton in league play by one game after falling to the Lady Panthers earlier in the week, claimed the road win over the Lady Backs(5-14, 0-8) 44-24.

Lake Hamilton doubled up Arkansas High 10-5 after the first quarter before expanding its lead to 24-14 at the break, as the Lady Backs’ Treasure Martin and the Lady Wolves’ Brooklynn Braughton each collected 10 first half points to lead all scoring at intermission.

An 18-point third period by the visitors would put the game on ice, as their lead increased to 42-18 before distancing themselves with a 20-point margin of victory.

Martin and Braughton were both limited to one field goal each in the second half for their respective sides to finish with 12 points on the night, while Addison Girley tallied eight points and nine rebounds for the Lady Backs and Disyah Christian finished with a game-high 13 points for the Lady Wolves

The Razorbacks(6-16, 1-7) sank the opening shot of the contest for their only lead of the game before the Wolves(17-5, 6-2) then cruised to the 7131 final and remain tied with Pine Bluff at just a game back of the league-leading Benton Panthers.

Six players for Lake Hamilton had atleast two field goals each in the first half, as the Wolves built a 25-10 cushion after the opening frame before then seeing their advantage widen to 45-18 at the break.

Quave Ross scored all but five points in the opening half for the Razorbacks to finish with a team-high 16 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Kel Watson pitched in nine points of his own for the Hogs, while MJ Ward added five points and Cam Sanders notched his only bucket in the final eight minutes of regulation for the home team.

Lake Hamilton’s top two players finished in double figures, as Florida Atlantic University commit Ty Robinson lead all scores for the game with 20 points for the Wolves and Zane Pennington poured in 15 points.

Arkansas High will host the top-ranked Benton Panthers Tuesday January 30th, beginning with JV at 5:00 and varsity to follow.
