Grace House Masquerade gala scheduled

- SHARDA JAMES

TEXARKANA, Ark. — A local nonprofit is preparing to host its second annual gala.

The theme of this year’s Grace House Gala is the Masquerade Gala. The event will feature dinner, dancing, live music, and a silent auction the proceeds raised will benefit the rescue of women and children in the Ark-la-tex.

Grace House is a local nonprofit that rescues and advocates for women and families at risk and provides a safe community where grace is offered, strengths are cultivated and a transition to stability is achieved.

It is the only transitional home in Texarkana for women where mothers are allowed to bring their children. The home features 10 bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a full kitchen and a living area.

Karen Rayfield started Grace House in 2017 on the Texas side. The agency began quickly expanding and eventually relocated to the Arkansas side.

“Our annual gala is an exciting way for our community to partner with us to rescue women and children in crisis,” Volunteer Coordinator Stephanie Moreland said. “Our mission with this gala is to give everyone a chance to directly impact the lives of our residents and the families we care for.”

The help of the Texarkana community will continue to grow the program and provide support to Grace House graduates, Moreland said.

The gala is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 15 at at The Canvas Special Events Center, 2101 Texas Blvd. in Texarkana, Texas.
