SHEREL JOHNSON

Sherel K. Johnson was born November 13, 1957 in Texarkana, Texas to the late Lillie Mae Johnson and Ollie Williamson. She passed to her heavenly reward quietly on April 7, 2024.

She accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized at St. Luke Baptist Church. Sherel was a member of the choir and had an electrifyi­ng soprano voice that could raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Sherel’s favorite song was “Oh How Precious”. She would sing until joy filled her heart and the hearts of others. She became well-known in the city during the Christmas season as the city caroler as she volunteere­d with the Salvation Army. Sherel was a 1976 graduate of Liberty-eylau High School and was an active member of the school choir.

Sherel lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed so many things and she knew a little bit about it all. Sherel leaves to cherish beautiful memories: her daughters, Chrystal Johnson of Texarkana, TX and Tameka Johnson of Dallas, TX; her granddaugh­ter, Tayloree Johnson; sisters, Patricia J. Greer; Lajoyce Allen (RC), Debra Tumblin (Willie), Sandra King (Harvey), Debra Williamson, Sharon Williams, and Vickie Williams all of Texarkana, TX; brothers, Charles R. Johnson, Sr., Kenneth W. Richardson, Sr. (Alice), and Dale W. Williamson, Sr., all of Texarkana, TX and Rickey Hamilton. A very special cousin, Marilyn Monroe, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Viewing for Sherel Johnson will be Friday, April 12, 2024 from 5 to 7 PM at Haynes Mortuary Inc.

Services will be 11 AM Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Christ Nations Church.
