PEA, school board negotiator talk ‘non-economic’ issues

Staff Reports PPENNSBrRv - In a 90-minute session on Monday, the chief negotiator for the Pennsbury School Board met face-to-face with negotiator­s for the Pennsbury Education Associatio­n (PEA).

“As a follow-up to our session held on Aug. 2T, we continued to discuss non-economic issues that were raised by the union leadership,” said attorney, Jeffrey Sultanik, the board’s chief negotiator. “For example, we reviewed language in various Memoranda of rnderstand­ing (MOr) that correspond with the current contract.” Sultanik added that he expects to receive revised contract language proposed by the PEA at the next scheduled negotiatio­n session on Sept. 24. spokespers­on Lucy Walter said the parties “worked at length” to incorporat­e past MOrs into the collective bargaining agreement.

Several Pennsbury administra­tors attended the session with Sultanik to answer questions if needed. They were assistant superinten­dent W. David Bowman, Ed.D., business administra­tor Daniel Rodgers, human resources director Bettie Ann Rarrick and financial services director Joanne dodzieba.

No board members attended the session.

Representi­ng the PEA were rNISERs representa­tive Karen Stranz and PEA President deorge Miller, along with PEA members Bev Esling, Brad Klotz and Lynn sitale. State mediator John Cairns was also in attendance.
