Gala party to help theatre ‘ Get Digital’

-

NEWTOWN - “Let’s Get Digital ... Digital” aptly titles a gala fundraiser slated for North State Street in Newtown Borough on September 29 at 7 p.m. and aimed at helping the historic Newtown Theatre reach its goal of raising $100,000 to convert its projection system.

The film industry is converting all movies to digital projection. However, the Newtown Theatre still uses a film-based system. To accomplish the digital conversion, the Theatre needs to raise $100,000. To generate a portion of this amount, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney is partnering with the Newtown Theatre to present the fun-filled gala.

“Let’s Get Digital ... Digital” will include an evening of food and entertainment. North State Street will be closed between gefferson and Green Streets, and a large area outside the theatre will be tented. A buffet dinner will be served, as well as beer, wine and soft drinks.

In addition, plans are afoot to include a silent auction of movie posters, memorabilia and other items, plus live music. Old newsreel clips and classic comedy shorts will be shown on the theater screen throughout the evening.

Tickets are $100 per person.

Sponsor- ships are available and include seating for guests, prominent signage at the event, an advertisement in the event booklet, and free on-screen advertising before each movie shown at the theatre for weeks following the event. cor sponsor information, contact the Newtown office of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney at 215-968-0900
