Mary C. Scarboroug­h Carter passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 30 at her home in Newtown, surrounded by her loving family. She was 61.

Mary was born in Abington, daughter of Mary gane Adams Scarboroug­h of Newtown and the late Earl L. Scarboroug­h. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Carter, with whom she shared 24 years of marriage.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Newtown and Langhorne. After graduating from Council Rock High School in 1969, she began working for First National Bank Trust Company of Newtown, retiring in 2008 after 39 years of service.

She was a member of Addisville Reformed Church for eight years. Mary was also heavily involved in the Newtown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, holding the position of treasurer for many years, and also serving in the Pickering Manor Nursing Home Ladies Auxiliary.

Mary had many hobbies and interests. She and her husband loved to travel, and visited many places around the world. Mary was an avid bowler, enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and watching Ts, especially Law and Order SsU. She was very crafty and loved to knit, cross stitch and crochet. Most of all, Mary loved her children and grandchild­ren, and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Paula M. Dadak, and her husband Frederick; her step-son, geffrey R. Carter; and step-daugh- ter, Laurie S. Carson and husband, David, all of Langhorne; her brothers, Donald Scarboroug­h of North Carolina and Earl “Skip” Scarboroug­h of Newtown; her sisters, Betty Kemler of Wisconsin and Bonnie gohnson and Clara Scarboroug­h, both of Newtown; her five precious grandchild­ren, Keira, Brittany, Melissa, Kyle, and Alyssa; and many nieces and nephews.

Her viewing was held Wednesday, Sept. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the goseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road) in Richboro, and on Thursday morning, Sept. 6 at the Addisville Reformed Church, 945 Second Street Pike, Richboro from 9 a.m. until her funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment followed in Newtown Cemetery, Newtown.
