Tri-Township helps Bucks County blank Mercer
Tri-Township basball coach Ken Hone is proud of the way his players performed in a recent all-star game that pitted some Bucks County Bath Ruth players against the best Mercer County had to offer.
Taking place Friday, Aug. 24 at WaterFront Park, home of the Trenton Thunder, the boys from Bucks blanked Mercer by a 4-0 score.
Tri-Township played a significant role in Bucks County’s win. Hone was proud, of course, because three of the shutout pitchers, Tyler Hone, Jarryd doldstein, and Alex Bariaharis, were from his Tri-Township team.
Most of Bucks County’s scoring came in the eighth inning when Tri-Township’s Peter Oline, of Holland, knocked in Pennsbury’s Jacob Wachpress and Bensalem’s Shawn Puskar to take the lead.
When asked about the game, manager Ken Hone could not say enough the team.
“The young men were given an opportunity to compete at the highest level in a professional stadium and they let no-one down.”
When asked why he used 10 pitchers he explained, “Each young man deserved the chance to pitch, and when given the opportunity, they proved me right when they shut out the best baseball players from Mercer County.”
The Bucks County players and coaches included Tri-Township’s Tyler Hone, Andrew Woodruff, Matt Mazza, Jarryd doldstein, Alex Bariahtaris, and Peter Oline. Representing was coach John Baionno, Brody McFadden, Matt Kaiser, Anthony Baionno, Mike Newton, Jacob Wachspress, Luke Kowal and Tyler Cohen. Representing Newtown was coach Ken Pleger, Sam Pfleger, Mike Walley, Matt Hand, Joseph Michelin. Representing Bensalem was coach dregg Puskar, Brandon Wermuth, Sean Hayes, Shawn Puskar and Billy Kohler.
*** NOTES: A special thanks to Mercer County for hosting the game. Memories were made that will last a lifetime.
