NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP POLICE REPORT

Department:

Friday, Aug. 31

DrI CHECKPOINT - On Aug. 31, police conducted a DrI checkpoint on the Newtown Bypass between State Street and Buck Road. Eight people were arrested for DrI - two were drug-related. All overtime will be reimbursed by Bucks County.

TEENS DISPERSED - Shortly after 8 p.m., police were dispatched to the Village at Newtown South shopping center for a report of approximat­ely 20 teens fighting while others recorded the fight. rpon arrival officers observed close to 100 juveniles congregati­ng in the area. The teens were dispersed without further incident.

Saturday, Sept. 1

VEHICLE ENTERED - At approximat­ely 12:20 p.m. a resident of Sequoia Drive reported that sometime Thursday or Friday night an unknown person entered her vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. The victim told police that nothing was taken, but the vehicle had been rummaged through.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - Around 5:20 p.m. police responded to a home on Mar- tindell Drive in Wrightstow­n for a report that someone had thrown eggs at the house.

Sunday, Sept. 2

DrI - Shortly before 3 a.m., police stopped a motorist on Newtown-Yardley Road for a traffic violation. At the stop the driver, a 38-year-old Newtown Township resident, was arrested for DrI. He was transporte­d to St. Mary Medical Center to have blood drawn for testing. Charges will be filed after the blood results are received.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE - Just before 11 a.m. police responded to Skyview Way for a report of damage to a parked vehicle. An officer met with the vehicle’s owner and observed that the back cab window was smashed out on the driver-side. The owner told the officer he would provide details of items missing at a later date. No other vehicles along the street were damaged.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - Around 11:30 a.m. a resident of Snapdragon Drive called police to report that his vehicle had been hit with eggs overnight. The responding officer did observe egg residue on the car. There were no witnesses to the incident.

CHARdES PENDINd - At approximat­ely 11:30 p.m. an officer was monitoring traffic on the Newtown Bypass near Newtown date Drive when he observed a vehicle being operated at a high rate of speed on the highway. The motorist was stopped and the driver, a 17-year-old Langhorne resident, was transporte­d to St. Mary Medical Cen- ter to have blood drawn for testing after the officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the car. The teen was released to a family member. Charges are pending the results of the blood work.

Tuesday, Sept. 4

CREDIT CARD FRArD - A resident of Susanna Way came to police headquarte­rs around 8:30 a.m. to report that he was a victim of a credit card fraud. The victim told an officer that he had used his debit card in Canada in July and recently discovered more than $10.000 in fraudulent activity on his card. The account had been closed and the bank will cooperate with the investigat­ion.

SrSPICIOrS PERSON - Around 12 p.m., a resident of Providence Court came to police headquarte­rs to report a suspicious person that has been seen on multiple occasions in the wooded area behind her home. The resident described the man as tall, dressed in all black and wearing a white mask. Officers have been routinely checking the area at various times, but have not located anyone to date

LOITERINd COMPLAINT - Shortly after 10 p.m. police were dispatched to the area outside the Acme Market for a complaint that there were several subjects loitering there and the caller felt they may be intoxicate­d. Responding officers dispersed the group without incident or evidence of intoxicati­on.

Friday, Sept. 7

THEFT FROM VEHICLE - Shortly before 2 p.m., police were dispatched to Bucks County Community College for a report of a theft from a student’s vehicle. An officer met with the victim who explained that she parked and locked her car around 10:30 a.m. When she returned to her car she discovered that her purse, containing her driver’s license and credit cards, along with a gym bag that had her iPod in it, had been removed from the vehicle. The owner didn’t provide values for the missing items.

RETAIL THEFT - At approximat­ely 3:10 p.m. police responded to the Party Fair store for a report of a retail theft. An employee told police that a woman had entered the store, grabbed plastic party cups and left the store without paying for the merchandis­e valued at $25. The employee provided a vehicle descriptio­n and registrati­on number on the car.

DrMPSTERS DrMPED - Police responded to a call that trash dumpsters had been overturned behind the stores in the Village at Newtown South Shopping Center at approximat­ely 8:50 p.m. The caller reported that several juveniles were in the area before the damage and saw them leaving the shopping center heading towards Council Rock High School. Officers observed three dumpsters overturned and the fencing around the constructi­on site near Wendy’s had also been knocked over. Officers remained in the vicinity to discourage teens from loitering in the area.
