Summerseat to celebrate the season Colonial-style
MORRISsILLE - The Historic Morrisville Society welcomes everyone to Summerseat and its winter festivities on Dec. 5 and 8.
The annual Carol Sing will kick-off the holiday celebration on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at S p.m. Punch and light refreshments will be served at the free event located at 140 Legion Avenue, Morrisville.
Then on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 10W30 a.m., General George Washington and his troops (Historic Military ImpressionistsF will arrive at Summerseat to re-enact the General’s historic visit when he planned the Battle of Trenton that helped the colonists win the Revolutionary War. Thomas and Mrs. Barclay will greet the General and visitors, hear his historic words of encouragement and mingle with his troops.
sisitors can then enjoy a colonial chair caning demonstration, visit with a colonial dentist, enjoy the holiday decorations and gingerbread house room, be a kid again as the Delaware salley Chapter of the National Historic Railway Society presents a toy, scale and N-gauge train display, or purchase a hot dog and soup lunch to ward off the cold of the VHDVRN. BDNH VDOH LWHPV, UDIflHV for fund-raising baskets and HMS mementos and books can also be purchased for a nominal charge.
Summerseat served as the headquarters for General Washington and his troops from Dec. 8-14 in 177S and this annual event celebrates this pivotal event in American history.
