Campers will ‘rock-n-roll’ at Green Day-themed camp
NEWTOWN - School of Rock Newtown will hold a four-day Winter Break Camp for young rockers ages 8-18 from Dec. 26 to 29.
Parents looking for something for their kids to do during their days off from school will appreciate this latest School of Rock camp offering, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday to Saturday. On the final day of camp, students will perform a rock show at the school at 4:30 p.m.
On Dec. 15, School of Rock Newtown will host a Holiday Open House where aspiring musicians and their parents can find out more about the program, listen to live music and enjoy free food. New School of Rock merchandise will be available as well as gift certificates for giving the gift of rock.
Staff from the Guitar Center Oxford Valley will be on hand and Village at Newtown neighbors, Great Harvest Bread Company, will be serving muffins and scones.
The school is holding a series of open houses, celebrating their first holiday season in Newtown. Those attending the open house will be entitled to discounts on the regular performance program as well as the camp.
Winter Performance Camp students should already have a basic understanding of their instrument and a grasp of music fundamentals. Students are assigned various songs by Green Day and engage in daily group workshops covering music theory, rehearsal techniques, performance practice and group band rehearsals leading up to the all-ages rock show performance on the last day of camp. Students experience a fun, hands-on atmosphere learning performance and the art of being in a rock band.
School of Rock Newtown is located at 2852 S. Eagle Road in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center. For more information about the school and its programs, contact Paul Pollock at pollock@schoolofrock.com or call 215-968-7700.
