Conwell-egan captures top prize in tipoff tourney

BucksLocal­Sports Editor The Conwell-Egan Catholic (CECF girls captured the top prize in Bristol High School’s Coaches vs. Cancer Tipoff tournament when the Lady Eagles bested Truman, 69-41, on Saturday. Senior Ashley Smith led CEC with 27 points and the Eagles had eight players in the scoring column including junior Morgan Pepito with 10 points.

Senior helli Piell (8 pts.F led a group of CEC players with single digits that included junior Samantha Glitz (6 pts.F freshman Lyric Lewis (6F, sophomore Rachel Cortez (4F along with seniors Makenzie McNulty (4F and Meghan Horn (4F.

Lady Tigers center hhristaija­h gackson led Truman with 19 points. A junior at HST, she registered 37 in the Tigers’ opening 65-28 win over Bristol on Friday. Stephanie Martinez, Alexis Bookard, gazmyn Wilson and haijah Willis added two points apiece to the Truman cause while Shappelle Brewton (7 pts.F, Angelica Mena (5F, Taylor Gasperi (4F and Rickea Boyd (4F also came through for the Lady Tigers.

The Warriors rebounded with a 39-35 triumph over Morrisvill­e in Saturday’s consolatio­n. Oliva Onal and Alicia Reilly paced Bristol with eight points each. ganiree Wooten (7 pts.F, gasmine Wooten (6F, hatelyn Santa- na (6F and haterina Moore (4F also registered points for the Warriors. Onal (9 pts.F and Desaree Wooten (4F led the cause for Bristol in Friday’s season opener.
