NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP POLICE REPORT

The following informatio­n is provided by the Newtown Township Police Department:

Tuesday, Dec. 4

TOOLS SCATTbRbD Ok HIdHWAY - While on patrol at approximat­ely 2W30 a.m. an officer observed several tools scattered throughout the roadway along Durham Road. The office retrieved the tools and placed them in a box in the highway garage where they are stored in case the owner is identified.

SrSPICIOrS sbHICLb -Around 2W45 a.m. an officer observed an occupied suspicious vehicle parked in a parking lot on Penns Trail. The officer made contact with the two adults in the car and they explained that they were lost so they pulled into the parking lot to dPS their location. Their identifica­tion was confirmed and their criminal background was clear so they left the area with no further police action.

FRArD - A resident of Penns Park Road contacted police shortly after 2W30 p.m. to report fraudulent activity on a posting she placed on Craigslist. The woman told the officer that she is a real estate agent and had listed a house for sale on the site and received informatio­n that someone had changed the contact informatio­n on the ad. The caller had already contacted the fraud department for Craigslist and filed a complaint with them.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

THbFT - Police received a call from a resident of kewtown Township who reported that while he was in a business on South bagle Road for about 10 minutes around 10W10 a.m. someone took a laptop computer from his unlocked vehicle. The vehicle was parked at the shopping center. The victim was unable to provide a value on the computer at the time of the report, but told the officer he would provide it in the near future.

ap- proximatel­y 12W40 p.m., police were dispatched to Ridge Avenue in Wrightstow­n Township for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller said that the car had been parked on the street since 8 a.m. and was occupied by a man. The responding officer made contact with the man and learned that his wife is employed by a resident and would be done work soon. As the officer was speaking with him, his wife came out of the home and the couple left without further incident.

SHOTS FIRbD - Shortly before 5 p.m. a resident of Delaney Court reported hearing gunshots near her home and thought they were too close. Responding officers did not locate the source of the gunshots, but suspected that there were deer hunters in the area. An officer explained the game laws, seasons and safety zone boundaries to the caller, who was satisfied with the police response.

MISSIkd PAChAdb - Police received a call from a resident of Sequoia Drive around 7W30 p.m. who reported the possible theft of a package from his front porch. The caller reported that a rPS driver had delivered a package around 12W20 p.m., but when the resident got home the parcel was not there. At approximat­ely 9W30 p.m. the man called police to say that his neighbor dropped the package off telling the victim that the rPS driver left it at the wrong address. ko further police action was needed.

Friday, Dec. 7

TRrCh DbTAIL - Police conducted a truck detail on the kewtown Bypass from 7 a.m. until 1W30 p.m. During the detail 12 trucks were stopped and officers discovered one violation issuing a citation to the driver.

FRArD - Shortly before 12 p.m. a resident of Stoopville Road came to police headquarte­rs to report that he was the victim of fraudulent activity on his bank account. The resident had already notified his bank and they will be the investigat­ing agency. The reporting officer suggested that the resident also notify the credit bureaus.

Saturday, Dec. 8

- At ap- proximatel­y 2 a.m. police observed a customer who was stumbling and swaying back and forth inside the 7-11 Store on Sycamore Street. The man walked outside the store and the officer approached him, detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and asked for his identifica­tion. The 21 year-old resident of kewtown Township provided his driver’s license and told the officer that he had walked to the store and called a taxi to pick him up. The subject was told to sit on the curb to wait for the cab, but after several minutes the officer noticed that the man had left the parking lot. The officer located him in a nearby parking lot and administer­ed a portable breath test before transporti­ng the man home. He will be charged with public drunkennes­s.

FRArD - Shortly after 4 p.m. a resident of drant Street reported that an unknown actor had charged nearly $30,000 over the past two days on her credit card, which has been terminated. The resident will provide documentat­ion and statements to the detective division on Monday for investigat­ion.

RbTAIL THbFT - At approximat­ely 9 p.m. police were dispatched to McCaffrey’s Market for a report of a retail theft. According to an employee, a group of juveniles came into the store and fled on foot after being confronted by an employee. A descriptio­n of the juveniles was provided and officers located them nearby. The four male subjects, two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old, all residents of kewtown Township, along with a 13-year-old from korthampto­n Township, admitted their involvemen­t and showed officers where they hid the merchandis­e they took. They were then transporte­d to police headquarte­rs, where their respective parents responded to pick them up. All four were cooperativ­e and will be referred to kewtown Township’s Youth Aid Panel.

Sunday, Dec. 9

CRIMIkAL MISCHIbF - Police responded to a home on hanon Court at 4W48 p.m. for a report of damaged Christmas decoration­s. The resident told the officer that at some point after 5 p.m. on Saturday unknown subject(s) cut a strand of Christmas lights that were on a shrub in his front yard. The officer observed the strand of lights and it appeared that they had been cut with a pair of scissors or a sharp instrument. The value of the lights is estimated to be $20.
