Polar Bears ready to take New Year’s Day plunge
iANdHORNE – It’s that time of year again.
On New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2013 at 12 p.m. the Atlantic City Polar Bears will make its annual plunge into the Atlantic City Ocean, in front of Resorts Casino, Atlantic City, N.J.
“We ‘swim’ dressed in beach attire whether there is rain, sleet, snow and hail,” said Mike Kahlenberg of ianghorne, president of the polar bears.
Each person who jumps into the chilly ocean will receive a commemorative finisher’s certificate.
“In honor of our 22th annual plunge, we encourage people to promote the Polar Bear Club to friends and family, to make this the strongest attended event yet,” he said.
“We also ask you to reserve your ‘spot’ in the ocean as soon as possible, by contacting me,” he said. “If enough people sign up from the Bucks County area, I can coordinate transportation.”
To commemorate their ‘warm’ hearts among chilly feet, the Atlantic City Polar Bears is encouraging its members to make a donation to this years’ charity -- Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA).
MSAA is a national organization dedicated to enriching the quality of life for everyone affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MSAA provides ongoing support and direct services to individuals with MS and the people close to them.
