‘Shrek The Musical’ features one of Pennsbury’s own

EkkpBrRv – mennsbury graduate Megan Fulmer is seeing the countryI having the time of her life and hoping it all leads to Broadway some dayK

Right now the OM-year-old actress is touring with “phrek qhe Musical” as an understudy and enjoying every minute of itK

Fulmer is called the “female swingI” which means she covers all of the female ensemble roles – PQ of them to be exactK

qhat means if something were to happen to someone in one of the ensemblesI she would go out on stage for themK

In additionI the young entertaine­r gets to play the role of the witch every FridayK

FulmerI who graduated from mennsbury eigh pchool in OMNMI is majoring in musical theater at Montclair ptate rniversity in kew gerseyK phe is currently on a leave of absence while she’s on tourK phe’ll be returning to school next fall for her junior yearK

Fulmer considers being in “phrek” a sWHSSLnJ sWRnH. “, DP GHfinLWHOy Rn WhH right track and headed in the right directionI” she saidK

“phrek qhe MusicalI” based on the 2sFDU-wLnnLnJ DUHDPWRUNs fiOP, EULnJs the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to life on stageK

In a faraway kingdom turned upside downI things get ugly when an unseemly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princessK qhe ogre’s name is phrekK

Fulmer said she’s having the time of her lifeK FirstI there’s the thrill of being on stage in a major showI but she’s also getting to see the country and parts of CanadaK

qhe tour has taken her to AlaskaI kebraskaI ArkansasI qexasI both CarolinasI Florida and kew vork ptateK

“phrek the Musical” recently made a stop in Wilmington­I DelKI where her family had the chance to see the showK

Fulmer said being on tour is “amazing” and a dream come trueK

“eopefullyI next I’ll get to do an internatio­nal tourI make it overseas and to Broadway in kew vorkI” she saidK

Looking backI she remembers fondly her roots in the mennsbury pchool DistrictK

At mennwood Middle pchoolI she was onstage in “qhe Adventures of qom pawyerI” “qhe Wizard of Oz” and “OklahomaK”

When she reached mennsbury eigh 6FhRRO, shH DSSHDUHG Ln “6RuWh 3DFLfiF” as Bloody MaryI played Babette in “Beauty and the Beast and performed in “Little phop of eorrorsI” “goseph and the Amazing qechnicolo­r Dreamcoat” and “duys and DollsK”

“Each yearI I got a bigger and bigger role based on how hard I worked and trainedI” Fulmer saidK “Eventually­I it all paid offK”

phe’s not alone in making it to the bigtimeK “I’ve seen many mennsbury alumni grow up and go on to big thingsI” Fulmer saidK “We’ve had successful people who graduated before meK”

A number of mennsbury graduates have made it to BroadwayK And she said “it’s cool” that her picture is posted at mennsbury eigh pchool West Campus -- right up there with alumni who have performed there and on BroadwayK

“qhat’s my number one goal -- to make it on BroadwayI” Fulmer saidK

Fulmer started out as a dancer at qony 6FhwDUWz 6WuGLRs Ln LHYLWWRwn. HHU fiUsW dance recital was when she was just four years oldK

“I really wanted to become a ballerinaI” Fulmer saidK phe was in the American Repertory Ballet in mrincetonI kKgK And she was part of the TSers gunior Dance qeamK

Being in the spotlight is a thrilling experience­K “I don’t think it’s describabl­eI” she saidK “vou get this rush -- this adrenaline that you don’t get anywhere elseK”

qhe rising star is the daughter of Mildred and Bernon FulmerK phe has two brothersI Michael and gamesK
