Wrightstown scout earns Eagle rank
WRIGHTSTOWN - Troy Smith, the son of hevin and gane Smith of Wrightstown, recently achieved the rank of bagle Scout.
Smith’s bagle Scout project was completed in the Pennsbury School District at jakefield blementary School in iower jakefield.
With the help of Boy Scout Troop NM, Troy built an NN by NU foot pergola in the center of the school’s iearning Garden. It was designed and built to provide partial shade and a comfortable outdoor classroom where students will learn about agriculture.
Susan jead jazzitelli, chairperson of the jakefield iearning Garden, has plenty of accolades for the Scout.
“jr. Smith did an amazing job designing, fundraising, securing materials then building the pergola,” she said. “The pergola was built with the highest quality in mind and professionalism. We are pleased with the project and will enjoy it for years to come.”
Smith received special banners from Principal aonna jcCormickjiller. They were created and signed by the students and covered by flowers thanking him for the pergola.
Smith is a member of Boy Scout Troop NM, iower jakefield, a junior at Holy Ghost Preparatory School and an active member of Saint Andrew Church Parish in Newtown Township. He is an altar server at the church.
At Holy Ghost Prep, Smith is involved in the Cooking Club and jathletes.
In Troop NM, Smith has held numerous leadership rolesW historian, librarian, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader and troop guide. He assisted his fellow scouts with NT bagle projects and numerous community service projects.
Recently, Smith coordinated and participated in a veterans’ memorial and a flag retirement ceremony at the Wrightstown Township Building. His scouting involvement extends to the Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow. He achieved Ad Altare aei, World Conservation Award and attended Philmont Scout Ranch in New jexico in 2MNN.
Smith has attended summer scout camps in Pennsylvania, New vork and jaryland.
