Athlete of the Week Kaitlin Kelly, Pennsbury Girls Basketball
It was a solid week for Kaitlin Kelly, a 5-6 junior guard and one of Pennsbury’s go-to players thanks to her excellent shooting abilities.
First in a marquee game at Neshaminy on Jan. 15, her 11 points helped the Falcons prevail in a 52-42 decision. Then on Jan. 18, she dropped in nine points to help Pennsbury survive a five-point decision at Bensalem. Those victories were a rebound following a poor second-half performance in a home loss to Abington Jan. 11.
The Falcons went on to lose to Central Bucks West the day after beating Bensalem, but Kelly’s four 3-pointers helped her lead all scorers with 19 points. Despite the setback, though, the Falcons are now tied for third place in the Suburban One League (SOL) National Conference at 6-3 and are 10-4 overall on the season.
