FC Patriots r1p oed captures BPYSA NCS state cup

It took regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods in addition to seven rounds of a penalty kicks session to decide but it appears the FC matriots r13 Red boys soccer team has emerged the winner in the rS Youth Soccer Eastern mennsylvan­ia Youth Soccer Associatio­n (EmYSA) r13 National Championsh­ip Series out- door state cup May 18 in Downingtow­n.

Trailing 2-1 at the half, the Washington Crossing team deadlocked the score at 2-all after the break on a goal by Nick Hazel off a feed from Sasha Rubinstein.

The matriots fell behind again however when menn )usLRn WDOOLHG Ln WKH fiUsW overtime period before tying the game at 3-apiece with three minutes left in the second OT on a goal by Jack McCourt – his second of the contest, off a feed from Nick Hazel. On the play, Conor O’Donnell was instrument­al in getting Hazel the ball.

Deadlocked at 5-all in penalty kicks, Conor Fife made a big save on a shot by menn Fusion and Martin Menendez tallied the game-winner, sending the mats to the rS Youth Soccer

Regional I Championsh­ips set for June 27 to July 2 in Kingston, R.I.

The game heroes were almost too numerous to men- tion in this one.

With his team trailing 1-0, McCourt registered the fiUsW JRDO RI WKe JDme IRU WKe 3DWULRWs, RII D Ieed IURm Fife.

While Fife would be the 3DWULRW NeeSeU Ln 3.s, CRnnor hadn’t played goalie for quite a few years, dating EDFN WR wKen Ke fiUsW sWDUWLnJ SODyLnJ sRFFeU. HRwever, Connor proved he was up to the task. Fife, a forward, was called upon to play goal when starter Brett Werner sustained a mild FRnFussLRn Ln WKe fiUsW KDOI.

Each team made four of WKeLU five 3.s. 7Ke 3DWULRW FC scorers included Conor 2’DRnneOO, 1LFN HDzeO, Will Noe and Connor Fife.
