Joseph F. Donato, 86, of Abing­ton, died Tues­day, Sept. 4, 2012, at his res­i­dence.

Born Jan. 19, 1926, in Abing­ton, he was a son of the late Ni­cholas and Theresa Donato.

Mr. Donato was a self­em­ployed ma­sonry con­trac­tor throughout his ca­reer. An avid golfer with a “2 hand­i­cap,” he was a long­time mem­ber of Sandy Run Coun­try Club. Joe was also a vet­eran of the U.S. Army, hav­ing served his coun­try hon­or­ably dur­ing World War II.

Sur­vivors in­clude his chil­dren, Wayne D. Donato of Abing­ton, Theresa L. Wein­mann EThomas) of North Wales, Joseph F. Donato, Jr. EJu­dith) of Doylestown, and Kim­berly J. Biondi EMark) of West­mont, IL; nine grand­chil­dren, Wayne Jr. EStephanie), Ni­cole EMatt), Jamie EJa­son), Josh ELaura), Jodie, Mon­roe, Greer, Jack, and bmilee; four great­grand­chil­dren, Dean, bthan, Zachary, and Jor­dan; and his brother, Au­gust Donato of Lower Gwynedd.

He was pre­ceded in death by his for­mer wife, Joyce EDun­can) Donato; and three broth­ers, Frank, Ni­cholas, and Mario.

A cel­e­bra­tion of the lives of Joe and Joyce will be held be­tween 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Satur­day, Sept. 22, 2012, at Huff & Lak­jer Funeral Home, 701 Der­s­tine Ave., Lans­dale.
