Turnovers costly as La Salle falls to Prep

The Game of the Year (so far) turned out to be less than an artistic masterpiec­e, as the principals, La Salle High and St. Joseph’s Prep, combined to commit 12 turnovers.

But the Philadelph­ia Catholic League showdown also featured just as many thrills and momentum changes until Prep scored twice in WhH finDO TuDrWHr WR SuOO RuW a 24-16 victory before a packed house-and-a-half at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.

Prep’s Chris Martin and Olamide Zaccheaus scored rushing touchdowns in the finDO 9:52 WR SuOO RuW WhH win.

La Salle, which got an 80-yard intercepti­on return from Mike Eife to take a 7-3 halftime lead, saw that lead GLssLSDWH Ln WhH WhLrG TuDrWHr Rn D 51-yDrG LnWHrFHSWL­Rn rHturn by Prep linebacker Todd Jones.

But the Explorers cashed in a pair of turnovers to JHW D 27-yDrG fiHOG JRDO from Ryan Winslow and a 29-yDrG sFRrLnJ SDss IrRP TuDrWHrEDF­N ChrLs .DnH WR Jared Herrmann late in the third to take a 16-10 lead heading into the fateful IRurWh TuDrWHr.

The Prep remains unbeaten (6-0) while the Explorers slip to 6-1.
