Kiamichi Tech Students Inducted into National Technical Honor Society

Kiamichi Tech – Talihina recently inducted Colt Fields and Katlynn Cox into the National Technical Honor Society.

Colt is currently in his third year at Kiamichi Tech – Talihina, having been enrolled in the Criminal Justice and EAST (Education Accelerate­d by Service and Technology) programs as a high school student. He chose to return as an adult student to attend the HVAC (Heating, Ventilatio­n, and Air-conditioni­ng) program using the Steps to Success scholarshi­p. This scholarshi­p is awarded by Kiamichi Tech to students who graduate from one of its partner schools.

Katlynn attends Clayton High School, and she is currently in her first year at Kiamichi Tech – Talihina. She is currently enrolled in the EAST program, where she studies both graphic design and VR (virtual reality) design.

National Technical Honor Society's mission is “to honor student achievemen­t and leadership in career and technical education, promote educationa­l excellence, award scholarshi­ps, and enhance career opportunit­ies for the NTHS membership.”

The National Technical Honor Society advisor for Kiamichi Tech – Talihina is Michael Phillips. He also serves as the math and science instructor.

“NTHS has a high standard set for membership qualificat­ion, and I’m proud to induct Colt and Katlynn into such a prestigiou­s society,” said Phillips.K i a m i c h i Technology Centers has played an integral role in southeaste­rn Oklahoma communitie­s since 1968, serving ten full and three partial counties. Kiamichi Tech is one of 29 districts in the Oklahoma CareerTech system with more than 30 career programs. Kiamichi Tech also offers a wide variety of evening and weekend short-term courses as well as certificat­ions in many diverse career fields. Kiamichi Tech has over 20,000 full time and shortterm enrollment­s each year and serves area companies through our Workforce and Economic Developmen­t Centers that works with over 400 businesses annually.
