Remember, parents are not around forever. We all need to remember to treat our parents with love and respect. We never know the sacrifices that they made while we were growing up. Call them, take their grandchildren to see them, laugh with them, hug them, let them tell their old stories. They are the ones that made us feel safe and fed us, so take them their favorite treat or an ice cream. Have patience with them and let them know you love them. You will be elderly someday, and I hope you have someone that loves you no matter what. Until you are a parent yourself, and up in years, you won’t know the loneliness.

Tomorrow may be too late to pick up the phone, visit, laugh, and cry together. Do yourself a favor and do it today! They have been there for you since before you were born, they may not be able to take care of themselves, it may be time for you to step up and take care of them.... love and respect - that’s all we want.
