Funk, Doris June

-

90, of Chandler, Arizona passed away on September 23, 2012. June or "June Bug" as our father called her, was a remarkably beautiful and strong woman who was very bright. She raised 4 boys with her husband, Bernard (Bernie) Funk who preceded her in death at the very young age of 58 in 1970. During their almost 30 years together they always worked hard to provide for their family by working in Sales, owning restaurants and jewelry business’s. After her husband’s death, June worked for many years in property Management. June was artistic, she painted portraits and landscapes, made jewelry and knitted up a storm of beautiful afghans for family and friends. She even sold some of her works. She was a great cook! She was very much in love and proud of her husband, Bernie and they shared their love, laughs and occasional hard times living together between parts of Arizona and California until death separated them. She was also proud of his family’s’ involvements in early Arizona Business developments beginning in 1912, such as Retail Jewelry, Amateur Sports and Greyhound Racing. She was proud of her 4 boys and helped them whenever possible. She made friends easily and was always doing for others until health issues kept her from continuing. Doris was a Veteran who enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp during World War II and served stateside while her husband Bernie was deployed as a Navy Torpedo man to the Pacific War Battles. Doris June Funk was as perfect a wife, mother and friend as she could be. She devoted her life to family and friends especially to "her boys". She was passionate and sought a better life for her family and others. She will be missed and remembered by many, May God Bless Her! She is survived by: her eldest son, BJ and daughter-in-law, Andrea; son, Norman, his son’s John Arthur and Brennan; son, Jon and daughter-in-law, Nancy; son, Benjamin, preceded her in death but her daughter-in-law, Linda and granddaughter Katie reside in California; Grandson, Rien, his wife Julie and their children, Nicklaus and James.
