Jean Nydegger, 95, was born Jean Lightner on March 31, 1917, in Duncannon, PA and passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2012 in Apache Junction, Az. Mrs. Nydegger had a career as photo-journalist with the Arizona Republic, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamatio­n and the National Parks Service. She was also an original investor with the community newspaper, the Apache Junction/Gold Canyon News, She was preceded in death by first husband, Martin H. Duffy and second husband Donald Nydegger (production manager for the Arizona Republic), daughter Patricia Jean Grounds and granddaugh­ter Mary Emily Barwick-Tomazin. She leaves behind her daughter, Robin Barker (son-in-law Ed Barker), granddaugh­ter, Trisha Barwick, grandsons Martin and Alan Barwick all of Apache Junction; Granddaugh­ters Libby Grounds, Post Falls, ID, and Alison Grounds, Gas City, IN, 12 great grand children (Larissa Mingus, Shandi Henson, Meghan Snyder, Richard Beza, Bryce Barwick, Trey Barwick, Ryan Baca, Alan Barwick, Aleya Barwick, Jereck Barwick, Brandi Spangler and Trisha Spangler, and six greatgreat grandchild­ren.) She lived a full and rich life. She joyously traveled and explored the world, listened to the works of great composers and gazed upon the masterpiec­es of the world’s most renown artists. She has left her footprints on the road of life as a guide for those of us she leaves behind. She loved and was loved and will be sorely missed.
