12 candidates to run for council

CAVE CREEK — There will be 12 candidates running in the March 12 election for Cave Creek Town Council.

Mayor Vincent Francia, who is running for his eighth consecutiv­e term, will run unopposed for the third straight time.

His last opponent wasKimberl­y Versage, whom he defeated in 2007 with about 80 percent of the vote.

The list of hopefuls includes all six incumbents seeking a return to the council.

The deadline to submit valid signatures was Dec. 12. The council candidates include: » Shelley Anderson, incumbent. » James Bruce, incumbent. » Ernie Bunch, incumbent. » Mike Durkin, electrical engineer. » Dick Esser, incumbent. » Steven LaMar, incumbent. » Thomas McGuire, incumbent. » Reginald Monachino, planning commission­er.

» Steve Snider, semiretire­d, business owner.

» Charles Spitzer, technical support for Boston-based computer company.

» Adam Trenk, lawyer, former town councilman. » Eileen Wright, retired. To get elected in the primary, candidates must get 50 percent of the vote plus one.

Council and mayor terms last two years, with all seats being up for election on the odd year. The council consists of a mayor and six council members.

Elected council members take office at the first council meeting in June.
