Free swim program for infants

MESA — Hubbard Family Swim School in the Riverview shopping center at Dobson Road and the Red Mountain Freeway is offering a free “Baby Splash” program daily except Mondays for infants 8 weeks to 5 months old.

The 30-minute water acclimation classes teach parents how to have fun with their babies in a bathtub and prepares the infants for swimming lessons in a 90-degree pool.

‘Tie One on for Safety’ drive

CHANDLER — Desert Car Care Centers is partnering with MADD on “Tie One On For Safety” through Saturday, encouraging drivers to sign a Pledge to Drive Sober and to tie a MADD ribbon on the vehicle as a symbol of opposition to drunken driving.

Those who participate receive a voucher for a complimentary set of wiper blades and $9 for a 15-point safety evaluation valued at $65.25 at the center at 95 N. Dobson Road.

Last year in Arizona, more than 265 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes in which a driver had a bloodalcohol concentration of 0.08 percent or higher. Forty-one of those were killed during the five weeks from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day.
