Tips for dog owners while traveling
Judy Cunningham wrote in with this advice about traveling with dogs: “Read your article (Dec. 2) on pet-friendly hotels. I have traveled with, trained, bred and shown dogs for 40 years. I have traveled in cars, planes, RVs, etc., with dogs. I will not stay in a hotel that charges for dogs — why don’t they charge for untrained kids? Two motel chains meet this rule: La Quinta and, as mentioned, Motel 6. A good place to find all things pets is dog friendly.com. It lists motels, parks, dog parks, stores, RV parks, etc. Be sure you have trained your pet and are responsible for it. Do not leave a yappy dog in your room. Do not take a toy male dog in to lift its leg on everything. Use a crate and please train them first. There is no bad dog — there are many bad owners.”
