Chapel in Andes a ‘hidden jewel’

Built in 1608 to evangelize indigenous Bolivians into the Roman Catholic faith, today the church known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Andes” attracts both the faithful and tourists who travel about 160 miles south from the capital of La Paz to the town of Curahuara de Carangas, in Oruro department, to see its ornate murals and other designs.
