POP-UP HEARTS CARD

-

Whether you’re young or old or inbetween, you can create a handmade card to give to a family member, significant other or friend. 1. Fold two square pieces of paper in half. Take one and cut two parallel, 2-inch slits about a half-inch apart on the fold side of card. Repeat and decrease length of slits until you have 3 strips. 2. Open the card and use your index finger to gently push the strips into the card. This will form the small “steps.” 3. Close the card. It should now have missing notches along the fold, because you’ve pushed the pop-up portion into the center of the card. 4. Glue the second blank card over the card with the pop-up so you can’t see the missing notches. 5. Use glue to adhere cut hearts to the front of the steps inside the card. The hearts will pop up when the card opens. Embellish card as desired with markers.

HOW TO MAKE A VALENTINE’S BOX

Start with a wooden box. Mix brown paint (Michaels recommends Craft Smart paint) and a lot of water in a small container, to create a stain. Brush the stain all over the box. Use a paper towel to help spread stain evenly. Paint words across the front of the box with Vanilla Craft Smart paint. When dry, cut a 1-inch strip from red cardstock and tape it around the box, as shown. Finish project with a few strands of twine tied into a bow.
