Council to consider rezoning

-

SCOTTSDALE — The Scottsdale City Council on Tuesday will consider requests to change the land use and zoning on 8.8 acres at 136th Street and Via Linda.

Plans call for a 90-unit condominium development at the mostly-vacant commercial center. Villas 136 LLC wants to redevelop Saddle Mountain Plaza shopping center, which was anchored by a Bashas’ supermarket.

Residents have voiced concern about the proposed project’s height, density and propensity to draw more traffic to the area.

Also on Tuesday, the council will have its final public hearing on the 2013-14 budget, which takes effect July 1.

The tentative budget is roughly $1.19 billion, of which $230.8 million covers the general fund for basic city services. The council is expected to adopt the final budget that night.
