Barbecue and raffle planned

MESA — The Oakwood Creative Care Auxiliary’s Celebrate Oakwood barbecue buffet and raffle is 7 p.m. June 15 at Painted Mountain Golf Resort, 6210 E. McKellips Road, Mesa. Formerly known as Sirrine Adult Day Health Services, Oakwood Creative Care provides innovative day programs for the elderly.

Tickets are $17.50 and include a bar, silent auction, raffle, and karaoke. Buffet and raffle tickets are on sale through June 10. Raffle tickets may be purchased the night of the event.

Prizes include a golf package from Painted Mountain, a wine trunk filled with fine wines, jewelry, $1,000 in cash, a Samsung tablet, a 50-inch Vizio TV and gift baskets.

Baby-sitting class to be offered

MESA — Baby-sitter training for those11years old and up will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 14 and 28 in the Rosati Education Center Juniper Room at Banner Desert Medical Center, Dobson Road near the U.S. 60.

Classes will be taught by a CPR-certified nurse. Classes are $35, and participants must register. Participants should bring a packed lunch. A CPR certification card will not be issued for this class.
