- By Peyton Gallovich

The Valley’s third Epic Thrift store opened Thursday in Phoenix near the Glendale border.

The store at 4377 W. Bell Road is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

As part of the opening, the store will raffle off $100 shopping sprees. Customers must fill out an entry form at the store to enter. Adrawing will be held at 8 p.m. today and 5 p.m. Sunday. Entrants do not need to be present to win.

Bridgette Shay, who oversees special projects at Epic Thrift, said quality merchandise that is organized and well-presented sets the thrift store apart.

“We are trying to set a higher standard for customer service. We focus on the organization and presentation,” she said.

This is Epic Thrift’s fifth store in the Southwest, including a store at Union Hills Drive and19th Avenue that opened last month. The third Valley store is in Mesa. The store near 43rd Avenues and Bell Road fills a vacancy left by a former Ace Hardware store.

The chain partners to help veterans and other community groups, Shay said. Local organizations and school programs can fundraise with Epic Thrift as well. They offer three different programs to raise money.

The company donates an average of $8,000 per month to the Children of Veterans Foundation, a number that likely has grown with the recent store openings, Shay said.

Epic Thrift donates to the foundation by purchasing donated furniture, clothing and other household items from them. Epic Thrift then sells these items for profit.
