Valley ‘Voice’ contestant mum
Surprise resident Destinee Quinn let her family and friends get nervous about whether she made it through the first round of auditions for “The Voice.”
The 20-year-old country singer said only her parents knew the outcome of the television singing competition’s initial audition phase, which aired Sept. 24. About 30 family members and friends gathered to watch.
“The rest of us were on pins and needles,” said Kelsey Abbott, one of Quinn’s best friends. “We had a gut feeling she made it, but we didn’t know until we saw it with everyone else.”
Quinn is leaving her supporters wondering again how far she has made it into the competition.
The show began airing the second stage of competition, called the battle rounds, Oct. 14 and 15. Quinn’s performance wasn’t shown, which means she will be on the stage this week, either Monday, Oct. 21, or Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Then, her followers will know if she was selected to compete in the next phase of the show.
Quinn is not the first Phoenix-area woman to land in the spotlight of a popular TV talent show. Glendale’s Jordin Sparks won “American Idol” in
2007.
Quinn was born in Glendale, raised in Peoria and lives in Surprise. She graduated from Peoria’s Liberty High School.
