Meet 12 News anchors ahead of ‘Anchorman’ premiere

-

Ever wondered what local television news anchors thought about when they watched Will Ferrell play Ron Burgundy in “Anchorman?”

This is your chance to find out.

I’ll be hosting a conversation with Mark Curtis and Faye Fredricks, anchors for Channel 12 (KPNX), not just about the movie — “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” opens Wednesday, Dec. 18 — but about their jobs. (It’s sold out, but you can win tickets, as you’ll see below.)

And as someone who dabbles from time to time in live television, I can tell you: It’s tougher than you think. It doesn’t matter that your script is on a teleprompter, or that you’re in a room that’s mostly empty of other people.

It matters when that little red light goes on atop the camera and you know that there are a lot of people watching.

Do they get nervous? (I do.) Do they mess up? (I do.) What’s the hardest part of the job? (Everything.) The easiest? (Nothing.)

We’ll find out their answers Friday, Dec. 13, at the MercBar in Phoenix. And it won’t just be me asking the questions. I’ll also moderate a conversation between them and the audience. And if you want to be in that audience. …

As we’ve said , it’s sold out. (The event is free but tickets are required.) But you’ve still got a chance to get in. Channel 12 is giving away two tickets each to five winners.
