Man charged in a fiery crash that killed couple

Andrew D. Gans, of Kent, faces two counts of vehicular homicide with a reckless specification after Thursday night’s crash on the Ohio Turnpike, where both vehicles burst into flames.
The victims, Wilbur and Margaret McCoy, both 77, of Toledo, were wearing seat belts when they were hit and were trapped inside the minivan, the patrol said.
Gans, 24, suffered injuries that are not life-threatening and was hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation at a Toledo hospital, said staff Lt. Anne Ralston, a spokeswoman. ing four homeless men, died after ingesting something while in his jail cell, his defense attorney said Friday.
Attorney Michael Molfetta would not say what his client ingested but said the death raises serious questions about how much supervision 25-year-old Itzcoatl Ocampo was getting from Orange County sheriff’s deputies. The substance was not drugs, according to Molfetta, who said he was briefed on his client’s death.
No cause of death was immediately given, and officials said an autopsy will be performed in the coming days.
