DT Davon Coleman leads them in tackles for a loss (14) and sacks (71⁄ ASU ranks fourth in the Pac-12 in pass defense, allowing 221 yards. The Sun Devils are eighth nationally in sacks (3.09), but they might not have much of a chance to get in the backfield against UA’s attack. The Sun Devils rank among the nation’s leaders in forcing threeand-outs. … The Wildcats average 33.8 yards (sixth in the Pac-12) and 455.2 yards per game (fifth). They run on 62.5 percent of their total plays. RB Ka’Deem Carey is among the best in the country, ranking second nationally with 155.9 rushing yards per game. B.J. Denker is steady, effective in UA’s scheme as a dual-threat QB. Favorite targets: Samajie Grant (44 catches, 353 yards), Nate Phillips (39, 486) and Terrence Miller (36, 435). The offensive line has allowed only 14 sacks, which ranks second in the Pac-12. Advantage: ASU had shown improvemen­t but fell apart in last week’s win over UCLA. The punt- and kickoff-return teams gave up big plays. Easton Wahlstrom made a bad snap to punter Alex Garoutte, which resulted in a 21-yard loss. Complicati­ng matters against UA: ASU is expected to be without Grice, its top kickoff returner. ASU’s longest punt return is 18 yards. Kicker Zane Gonzalez, however, continues to be a bright spot. He hasn’t missed a field-goal attempt since Sept. 21, a string of 15 in a row. … UA ranks ninth in the Pac-12 in kickoff returns (20.3 yards) and seventh in punt returns (7.9). Drew Riggleman ranks eighth in punting average at 40.3 yards. Jake Smith has made 12 of 18 field-goal attempts with a long of 53 yards. Advantage: UA.
